Greetings…………………………………………Pastor Steven

Announcements………………………………………Lorri B.

Call to Worship………………………………………..Kelley G.

God, how majestic is your name! You create, and through creation, we encounter your wisdom and power.
How majestic is the name of God, our Creator!
You redeem, and through Jesus Christ, we encounter your saving love and grace.
How majestic is the name of God, our Redeemer!
You sustains us, and through your Spirit, we encounter your renewing presence.
How majestic is the name of God, our Sustainer!
Come, let us worship the Triune God!
We gather to worship God, Three-in-One and One-in-Three!
Written by Dr. Lisa Hancock, Discipleship Ministries, October 2024.

Opening Prayer……………………………………………….Kelley G.
God our Potter, God who becomes clay, God who shapes us in the fire, we are made new in your presence. We come seeking your wisdom, crying out our concerns, needing your peace. Use this time to form us as community, connected through your breath, life, and hope that propels us as your body in the world.
 Amen.

Opening Hymns…Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise..#103 UMH
Words: Walter Chalmers Smith, 1867 Music: Welsh melody from John
Robert’s Canaidau y Cyssegr, 1839

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all, life thou givest, to both great and small;
in all life thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

4. Thou reignest in glory; thou dwellest in light;
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all laud we would render; O help us to see
‘tis only the splendor of light hideth thee.

This is My Father’s World……………………#144 UMH
Words: Maltbie D. Babcock, 1901
Music: Traditional English melody; adapted by Franklin L. Sheppard, 1915

1. This is my Father’s world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

2. This is my Father’s world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
he shines in all that’s fair;
in the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

3. This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
that though the wrong
seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!”

#95 UMH
Words by Thomas Ken, 1674

Prayers of the People………………………….Pastor Steven

Anthem…………………………………………..Greg

Lesson:……………..John 16: 12 – 15 …………..Kelley G

I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Hymn of Preparation:……Fairest Lord Jesus………….#189 UMH
Words: Munster Gesangbuch, 1677, trans. Joseph August Seiss, 1873
Music: Schlesische Volkslieder, 1842, Arr. by Richard Storrs Willis, 1850

1. Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature,
O thou of God and man the Son,
thee will I cherish, thee will I honor,
my soul’s glory, joy, and crown.

2. Fair are the meadows, fairer still the
woodlands, robed in the blooming garb
of spring: Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
who makes the woeful heart to sing.

3. Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the
moonlight, and all the twinkling starry
host: Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines
purer than all the angels heaven can boast.

4. Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man! Glory and
honor, praise, adoration, now and
forevermore be thine.

Sermon:…………..What will you declare?………….Pastor Steven

Closing Hymn…….Forward Through the Ages” #555 UMH
Words: Frederick Lucian Homer, 1908
Music: Arthur S. Sullivan, 1871

1. Forward through the ages, in unbroken line,
move the faithful spirits at the call divine;
gifts in differing measure, hearts of one accord,
manifold the service, one the sure reward.

Forward through the ages, in unbroken line,
Move the faithful spirits at the call divine.

2. Wider grows the kingdom, reign of love and light;
for it we must labor, till our faith is sight.
Prophets have proclaimed it, martyrs testified,
poets sung its glory, heroes for it died.

Forward through the ages, in unbroken line,
Move the faithful spirits at the call divine.

3. Not alone we conquer, not alone we fall;
in each loss or triumph, lose or triumph all.
Bound by God’s far purpose in one living whole,
move we on together to the shining goal.

Forward through the ages, in unbroken line,
Move the faithful spirits at the call divine.

Dismissal with Blessing………….Pastor Steven
