Christ is risen from the dead,

Christ is risen from the dead,
Trampling down death by death,
And to those in the tombs restoring life!
Alleluia! The risen Christ is with us!
Thanks be to God! Alleluia!
Opening Hymns:“Christ Is Alive” #318 UMH
Words: Brian Wre, 1968, Music Psalmodia Evangelica, 1789
© 1975 Hope Publishing Co.
1. Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. His cross stands
empty to the sky. Let streets and homes with
praises ring. His love in death shall never die.
2. Christ is alive! No longer bound to distant
years in Palestine, he comes to claim the
here and now and dwell in every place and time.
3. Not throned afar, remotely high, untouched,
unmoved by human pains, but daily, in the
midst of life, our Savior in the Godhead reigns.
4. In every insult, rift and war, where color,
scorn, or wealth divide, he suffers still, yet
loves the more, and lives, though ever crucified.
5. Christ is alive, and comes to bring good news to
this and every age, till earth and all creation
ring with joy, with justice, love, and praise.
“Be Thou My Vision” #451, UMH
Words: Ancient Irish Music: Trad. Irish melody
1. Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
2. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord;
thou and thou only, first in my heart, p
great God of heaven, my treasure thou art.
3. Great God of heaven, my victory won,
may I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Gospel Lesson:…………….1 John 3:1-7………………Melrose D.
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
Hymn of Preparation:..“Many and Great, O God” #148 UMH
Words: Joseph R. Renville, 1846, Music: Native American melody
1. Many and great, O God, are thy things, Maker of
earth and sky. Thy hands have set the heavens with stars;
thy fingers spread the mountains and plains. Lo, at thy
word the waters were formed; deep seas obey thy voice.
2. Great unto us communion with thee, thou star
abiding one; come unto us and dwell with us;
with thee are found the gifts of life. Bless us with
life that has no end, eternal life with thee.
Sermon:…………….“Show Us God”………….Pastor Steven
Closing Hymn:..“Sent Out in Jesus’ Name” #2184 TFWS
Words: Anon.;trans. By Jorge Maldonado, alt.
Music: Trad. Cuban, arr. By Carmen Peña
Trans ©1988, arr. © 1996 Abingdon Press
Sent out in Jesus’ name, our hands are ready now to
make the earth the place in which the kingdom comes.
Sent out in Jesus’ name, our hands are ready now to
make the earth the place in which the kingdom comes.
The angels cannot change a world of hurt and pain
into a world of love, of justice and of peace. The
task is ours to do, to set it really free. O help us
to obey and carry out your will.
