Call to Worship:…………..“Hosanna”……………..Kids Roc
Greetings:………………………………………Pastor Steven
Opening Prayer: ………………….………..…Samantha M.
God of the foolish cross,
tottering down the streets of Jerusalem on a donkey,
You are not the savior we expect.
Your power doesn’t look like the power we want our God to demonstrate.
Your wisdom makes no sense to us.
We are happy to join the crowd, waving branches,
But not so sure we want to follow you
into the temple courts
into the upper room
into the Garden of Gethsemane
to the foot of the cross.
Forgive our false assumptions.
Clarify our clouded vision.
Let us relax into the foolishness of your love, your grace.
Hosanna, hosanna.
Save us, we beseech you!
Opening Hymns:“Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” #278 UMH
Words: Jeanette Threlfall, 1873 Music: Gesangbuch der
H.W. k. Hofkapelle, 1784: harm. by W.H Monk, 1868
1. Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang;
through pillared court and temple the lovely anthem rang.
To Jesus, who had blessed them close folded to his breast,
the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best.
2. From Olivet they followed mid an exultant crowd,
the victor palm branch waving, and chanting clear and loud.
The Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state,
nor scorned that little children should on his bidding wait.
3. “Hosanna in the highest!” that ancient song we sing,
for Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heaven our King.
O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice,
and in his blissful presence eternally rejoice!
“All Hail King Jesus” #2069 TFWS
Words and Music: Dave Moody © 1974 Dayspring Music, Inc.
All hail King Jesus! All hail Emmanuel, King of kings,
Lord of lords, bright Morning Star. And throughout
eternity, I’ll sing your praises; and I’ll reign with you
throughout eternity.
All hail King Jesus! All hail Emmanuel, King of kings,
Lord of lords, bright Morning Star. And throughout
eternity, I’ll sing your praises; and I’ll reign with you
throughout eternity
.
Psalter: ……… Psalm 118: 19-29……………Elizabeth B.
Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord;
the righteous shall enter through it.
I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day which the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Save us, we beseech you, O Lord!
O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
We bless you from the house of the Lord.
The Lord is God,
who has given us light.
Lead the festal procession with branches,
up to the hor to no of the altar!
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God, I will extol you.
O give thanks to the Lord, who is good;
for God’s steadfast love endures forever!

Gospel Lesson:…………….Mark 11:1-11………Godwin O.
When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.'” They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it,
some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it.
Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields.
Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
“Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
Hymn of Preparation: “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus” #277 UMH
Words: William H. Parker, 1885 Music: Frederic A. Challinor, 1903
1. Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear;
things I would ask him to tell me if he were here:
scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea,
stories of Jesus, tell them to me.
2. First let me hear how the children stood round his knee,
and I shall fancy his blessing resting on me;
words full of kindness, deeds full of grace,
all in the love light of Jesus’ face.
3. Into the city I’d follow the children’s band,
waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand;
one of his heralds, yes, I would sing
loudest hosannas, “Jesus is King!”
Sermon:……..“The Humility of the Lord”………Pastor Steven

He is exalted, the King is exalted on high;
I will praise him. He is exalted, forever
exalted and I will praise his name!
