Coming of the Light:…………………………………Michael C.

Opening Prayer: ………………………………Allyssa M.

Opening Hymns:…..“Come, Ye Thankful People, Come #694 UMH
Words: Henry Alford, 1844 Music: George J. Elvey, 1858

1.Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of
harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere the
winter storms begin. God our Maker doth provide
for our wants to be supplied; come to God’s own
temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.

2.All the world is God’s own field, fruit as praise to
God we yield; wheat and tares together sown are to
joy or sorrow grown; first the blade and then the ear,
then the full corn shall appear; Lord of harvest,
grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

3.For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take the
harvest home; from the field shall in that day all
offenses purge away, giving angels charge at last
in the fire the tares to cast; but the fruitful
ears to store in the garner evermore.

4.Even so, Lord, quickly come, bring thy final
harvest home; gather thou thy people in, free from
sorrow, free from sin, there, forever purified,
in thy presence to abide; come, with all thine
angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home.

Rejoice, the Lord Is King #715 UMH
Words: Charles Wesley, 1746 Music: John Darwall, 1770
harm. from The English Hymnal, 1906

1.Rejoice the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore;
mortals, give thanks and sing, and triumph evermore.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

2.Jesus the Savior reigns, the God of truth and love;
when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

3.His kingdom cannot fail; he rules o’er earth and heaven;
The keys of earth and hell are to our Jesus given.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

4.Rejoice in glorious hope! Jesus the Judge shall come,
And take his servants up to their eternal home.
We soon shall hear th’archangel’s voice;
the trump of God shall sound, rejoice!

Psalter:.. Psalm 46…………………..…………..Allyssa M.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;

though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns.

The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come, behold the works of the LORD; see what desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

“Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.”

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Gospel Lesson ….……….Luke 23:33-43…….Allyssa M.

When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left.  Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing.

And the people stood by, watching; but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one!”  The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.” One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

He replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Holy One, give thanks because he’s given Jesus
Christ his Son.  Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because
he’s given Jesus Christ his Son.  And now let the
weak say “I am strong”; let the poor say, “I am
rich because of what the Lord has done for us.”
Give thanks, give thanks, give thanks.
