Opening Hymn: “In Unity We Lift Our Song” #2221 in The Faith We Sing
Words by Ken Medema © 1994 Brier Patch Music; Music by Martin Luther
Used by Permission CCLI License #3184257
1. “In unity we lift our song of grateful adoration,
for brothers brave and sisters strong.
What cause for celebration!
For those whose faithfulness has kept us through distress,
who’ve shared with us our plight, who’ve held us in the night,
the blessed congregation.
2. For stories told and told again to every generation,
To give us strength in times of pain,
To give us consultation.
Our spirits to revive to keep our dreams alive,
When we are far from home and evil seasons come;
How firm is our foundation.
3. For sacred scriptures handed down,
a blessed trust and treasure,
Which give us hope when hope is gone
and make us weep with pleasure.
And when our eyes grow blind and death is close behind,
We shall recite them still whose words our hearts can fill
With hope beyond all measure.
4. For God our way, our bread, our rest,
of all these gifts the Giver.
Our strength, our guide, our nurturing breast
whose hand will yet deliver.
Who keeps us till the day when night shall pass away,
when hate and fear are gone and all our work is done,
and we shall sing forever.”
Psalms Reading: Psalms 133……………………………Chris Morris
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion,
For there the Lord commanded the blessing–
Life forevermore.
Prayers of the People: ……………………………..…Lorri Bingham
Please comment with your prayer concerns and especially offer up those things that cause your soul to be in a place of deep lament this day.
After each prayer:
Leader: Lord in your mercy,
All: Hear our prayers.
Closing Prayer of the People:
We praise your abiding guidance, O God, for you sent us Jesus, our Teacher and Messiah, to model for us the way of love for the whole universe. We offer these prayers of concerns on behalf of ourselves and our neighbors, on behalf of your creation and our fellow creatures. Loving God, open our ears to hear your word and draw us closer to you, that the whole world may be one with you as you are one with us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

“One heart, one spirit, one voice to praise you,
we are the body of Christ.
One goal, one vision: To see you exalted.
We are the body of Christ.
And to this we give our lives to see you glorified.”
Epistle Reading: Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32…………….Chris Morris
I say then, has God cast away His people?
Certainly not! For ‘I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.’
God has not cast away his people.
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you, they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.

“The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices.
Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.
1. Who is the King of glory; how shall we call him?
He is Emmanuel, the promised of all ages.
“The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices.
Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.
2. In all of Galilee, in our city or village,
He goes among his people curing their illness.
“The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices.
Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.
3. Sing then of David’s son, our Savior and brother;
in all of Galilee was never another.
“The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices.
Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.”
Prayer after receiving…………………………………..Chris Morris
God of love and mercy, we give you thanks that the compassion of Christ was challenged to move beyond the people of one community. May it be a reminder to us, his disciples, to follow this example in our living and our giving. Help us to see beyond our walls, beyond our communities, and across the divides of nation, race and creed, and to be generous as we share our blessings that have their source in you, God of us all. We pray in the name of our rock and redeemer; in Christ, we pray, Amen.
Closing Hymn: “We Are God’s People” #2220 in The Faith We Sing

1. “We are God’s people, the chosen of the Lord,
born of the Spirit, established by the Word.
Our cornerstone is Christ alone, and strong in Christ we stand;
O let us live transparently and walk heart to heart and hand and hand.
2. We are God’s loved ones, the Bride of Christ, our Lord,
for we have known it, the love of God outpoured.
Now let us learn how to return the gift of love once given;
O let us share each joy and care and live with a zeal that pleases heaven.
3. We are the body of which the Lord is Head,
called to obey Christ, now risen from the dead.
God wills us be a family diverse, yet truly one;
O let us give our gifts to God and so shall God’s work on earth be done.
4. We are a temple, the Spirit’s dwelling place,
formed in great weakness, a cup to hold God’s grace.
We die alone, for on its own each ember loses fire;
yet joined in one the flame burns on to give warmth and light and to inspire.”
