Call to Worship (#39 Worship & Song)……………………………….Phillip
Spirit of the living God, visit us again on this day of Pentecost.
Come, Holy Spirit. (this is the repeat after each line)
Like a rushing wind that sweeps away all barriers, R
Like tongues of fire that set our hearts aflame, R
With speech that unites the Babel of our tongues, R
With love that overlaps the boundaries of race and nation, R
With power from above to make our weakness strong, R. Amen.
Opening Hymn Spirit Song #347-R
O let the Son of God enfold you
With his Spirit and his love.
Let him fill your heart and satisfy your soul.
O let him have the things that hold you,
And his Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life
And make you whole.
Refrain
Jesus, O Jesus,
come and fill your lambs.
Jesus, O Jesus,
come and fill your lambs.
O come and sing this song with gladness
As your hearts are filled with joy.
Lift your hands in sweet surrender
To his name.
O give him all your tears and sadness;
Give him all your years of pain,
And you’ll enter into life
In Jesus’ name
Refrain
Jesus, O Jesus,
come and fill your lambs.
Jesus, O Jesus,
come and fill your lambs.
Acts of the Apostles: 2:1-21………………………………….Phillip
Joys: Please post your joys and prayer concerns in the comments.
Prayer Concerns: Pastor Gina
Hear these words from the Instagram Post BlackCoffeewithWhiteFriends:
Listen to the pleas of all rioting hearts. Notice what we have failed to hear.
Our Great Light in the Darkness,
We confess that we did not acknowledge the sound of labored breathing of the oppressed. And we mercifully hold their anguish in our hearts as we listen to their cries that scream for us to bear witness.
Oh Blessed Peacemaker, what have we done? Whose names have we not known? Whose names have we never said? Whose pain have we ignored? Whose hunger?
Forgive us. Be merciful to us. Open our hearts to listen and not denounce mourners as thugs.

Hymn of Preparation: Breathe on Me, Breath of God #420-R
1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.
2. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.
3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.
4. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.
Sermon ………………………………………………………Pastor Gina
Reaffirming our renunciation of sin and profession or faith found in our baptismal covenant.
Lorri: On behalf of the whole church, I ask you:
Do you renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this world, and repent of your sin? I do.
Phillip: Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves? I do.
Pastor Gina: Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in union with the church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races? I do.
Prayer (#38 Worship & Song)
Perplexing, Pentecostal God,
You infuse us with your Spirit, urging us to vision and dream.
May the gift of your presence find voice in our lives,
that our babbling may be transformed into discernment
and the flickering of many tongues light an unquenchable fire of
compassion and justice. Amen.
Giving of our tithes and offerings:
Prayer after receiving © 2020 Thom M. Shuman:
Blow the dust off our fears, Generous Spirit, so we might be more giving people. Blow the dust off our material gifts we think are so paltry, so we might realize how they can bring hope and life to others. Blow the dust off our mistaken views of others, so we might see them as our sisters and brothers, ready to grace us, even as we may bless them with these offerings. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Closing Hymn: Sweet, Sweet Spirit #334-R
There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
and I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
there are sweet expressions on each face,
and I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove,
stay right here with us, filling us with your love;
and for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
without a doubt we’ll know that we have
been revived when we shall leave this place.

May the Spirit of God be in you.
May the Spirit go ahead of you, and come behind you.
May the Spirit stand beside you, guard over you from above,
and support you from below.
May the Spirit comfort you, tell you all you need to know,
and give you power to serve.
May the Spirit unite you with God, to live a holy and fruitful life.
Amen.
