The week of Christian observances leading to Easter Sunday. It begins with Palm Sunday and progresses through Holy or Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. It culminates with the Easter Sunday celebrations

As we prepare for Holy Week, let’s resist the temptation to try to make it normal.
It’s not.
We are all likely under shelter-in-place restrictions of some kind.
Holy Week is a story of presence found only through absence, a story of harsh nails and painful wounds.
On Good Friday, we sit in a growing darkness, with all of the absence and loneliness this story brings, as the shadows grow longer in us.
When it was still dark, on the first morning, the women showed up.
When it was still dark, and there were no answers, only grief, the women showed up.
They came to care for the body of Jesus but were surprised by emptiness, by absence.
