At Avent Ferry United Methodist Church, joining is not merely about being added to a roll. True church membership is about uniting your heart with a Body of Christ in order to share Christ with the world.
Becoming a member of Avent Ferry works like this:
- Attend worship regularly and get involved in a program or ministry that interests you.
- Attend the pastor’s New Member Class or tell the pastor that you’re interested in joining and you’ll find out when the next New Member Class will take place.
We do not require anyone to write or present their own statement of faith in church. Those who have already been baptized into the Christian faith need only to answer in the affirmative when the pastor asks important questions like, “Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and put your whole trust in his grace?” Those who have not been baptized can find out more about the options for baptism and membership by talking with the pastor.
