Prelude/Call to Worship:
“In All Things Give Him Thanks”……………………..Greg/Choir
Words and Music: Kirk C. Dearman © 1984 John T. Benson Publishing Co. (ASCAP)

Coming of the Light:…………………………………………

Greetings:……………………………………………Pastor Steven

Opening Prayer:……………..………………….…Joe B.
O God,
in your Son Jesus Christ
you richly bless us with all that we need,
bread from the earth and the bread of heaven,
which gives life to the world.
Grant us one thing more:
grateful hearts to sing your praise,
in this world and the world to come. Amen.

Opening Hymns:.“Come, Ye Thankful People, Come #694 UMH
Words: Henry Alford, 1844 Music: George J. Elvey, 1858

1. Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of
harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere the
winter storms begin. God our Maker doth provide
for our wants to be supplied; come to God’s own
temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.

2. All the world is God’s own field, fruit as praise to
God we yield; wheat and tares together sown are to
joy or sorrow grown; first the blade and then the ear,
then the full corn shall appear; Lord of harvest,
grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

3. For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take the
harvest home; from the field shall in that day all
offenses purge away, giving angels charge at last
in the fire the tares to cast; but the fruitful
ears to store in the garner evermore.

4. Even so, Lord, quickly come, bring thy final
harvest home; gather thou thy people in, free from
sorrow, free from sin, there, forever purified,
in thy presence to abide; come, with all thine
angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home.

Now Thank We All Our God” # 102 UMH
Words: Martin Rinkart, 1663 trans. by Catherine
Winkworth, 1858, Music: Johann Cruger, 1647,
harm. by Felix Mendelssohn, 1840

1. Now thank we all our God, with heart and hand
and voices, who wondrous things has done, in
whom this world rejoices; who from our mothers’
arms has blessed us on our way with countless
gifts of love, and still is ours today.

2. O may this bounteous God through all our life
be near us, with ever joyful hearts and blessed
peace to cheer us; and keep us still in grace,
and guide us when perplexed; and free us from
all ills, in this world and the next.

3. All praise and thanks to God the Father now
be given; the Son, and him who reigns with them
in highest heaven; the one eternal God, whom
earth and heaven adore; for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

Psalter:…Psalm 90 #809 UMH………………….Chad V.
Response:
God, you are my refuge and my strength,
a present help in trouble.

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth, and the world, from everlasting you are God.
You turn us back to the dust, and say, “Turn back, O mortal ones!”
For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
You sweep them away; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning;
in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.
Response

For we are consumed by your anger; by your wrath we are overwhelmed.
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.
For all our days pass away under your wrath; our years come to an end like a sigh.
The years of our life are threescore and ten, or even by reason of strength fourscore; , yet their span is only toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.
Who considers the power of your anger, the awesomeness of your wrath?
So teach us to number our days that we may receive a heart of wisdom.
Response:

Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Make us glad as many days as you have afflicted us, and as many years as we have seen evil.
Let your work be manifest to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish for us the work of our hands;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.

Gospel Lesson:………….Matthew 25:14-30………Joe B.

“For it is as if a man, going on a journey, summoned his slaves and entrusted his property to them; to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.  The one who had received the five talents went off at once and traded with them, and made five more talents.

In the same way, the one who had the two talents made two more talents. But the one who had received the one talent went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.

Then the one who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you handed over to me five talents; see, I have made five more talents.’  His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

And the one with the two talents also came forward, saying, ‘Master, you handed over to me two talents; see, I have made two more talents.’  His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

Then the one who had received the one talent also came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew that you were a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed; so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ But his master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy slave! You knew, did you, that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter?

Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received what was my own with interest.  So take the talent from him, and give it to the one with the ten talents.  For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away. As for this worthless slave, throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'”

Hymn of Preparation:….“From the Rising of the Sun #2024 TFWS

sun – to the going down of the same, the name of the Lord

Closing Hymn:“Give Thanks” #2036 TFWS
Words and Music: Henry Smith © 1978 Integrity’s Hosanna! Music

Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the
Holy One, give thanks because he’s given Jesus
Christ his Son.  Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because
he’s given Jesus Christ his Son.  And now let the
weak say “I am strong”; let the poor say, “I am
rich because of what the Lord has done for us.”

Give thanks, (give thanks,) give thanks.
