Coming of the Light:……………………………………..Evan G.

Greetings:………………………………….…Pastor Steven

Opening Prayer: …………………………….……Freda B.

God our Mother and Father, we come to you as children.
Be with us as we learn to see one another with new eyes,
Hear one another with new hearts,
And treat one another in a new way. Amen.

Opening Hymns:“In Christ There Is No East or West#548 UMH
Words: Sts. 1,2,4, John Oxenham, 1912 st. 3, Laurence Hull
Stookey, 1987 Music: Afro-American spiritual

1. In Christ there is no east or west, in him no south
or north; but one great fellowship of love throughout
the whole wide earth.

2. In Christ shall true hearts everywhere their high
communion find; his service is the golden cord close
binding humankind.

3. In Christ is neither Jew nor Greek, and neither slave
nor free; both male and female heirs are made, and
all are kin to me.

4. In Christ now meet both east and west, in him meet
south and north; all Christly souls are one in him
throughout the whole wide earth.

Together We Serve #2175 TFWS
Words and Music: Daniel Charles Damon
© 1998 Hope Publishing Co.

1.Together we serve, united by love,
inviting God’s world to the glorious
feast.  We work and we pray through
sorrow and joy, extending your love to
the last and the least.

2.We seek to become a beacon of hope,
a lamp for the heart and a light for
the feet.  We learn, year by year, to let
love shine through until we see Christ
in each person we meet.

3.We welcome the scarred, the wealthy,
the poor, the busy, the lonely, and all
who need care.  We offer a home to those
who will come, our hands quick to help,
our hearts ready to dare.

4.Together, by grace, we witness and
work, remembering Jesus, in whom we
grow strong.  Together we serve in Spirit
and truth, remembering love is the
strength of our song.

Psalter:……..Psalm 119:1-8……#841 UMH……………Freda B.
Response 3
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Response
Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep God’s testimonies, who seek God with their whole heart,
who also do no wrong, but walk in God’s ways!
You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.
O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!
Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous ordinances.
I will observe your statutes; O forsake me not utterly!

Hymn of Preparation:”We All Are One in Mission#2243 TFWS
Words: Rusty Edwards Music: Finnish folk melody Words © 1986
Hope Publishing Co.

1. We all are one in mission; we all are one in call,
our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all. A
single great commission compels us from above to
plan and work together that all may know Christ’s love.

2. We all are called for service, to witness in God’s name.
Our ministries are different; our purpose is the same: To
touch the lives of others by God’s surprising grace, so
every folk and nation may feel God’s warm embrace.

3. Now let us be united, and let our song be heard. Now
let us be a vessel for God’s redeeming Word. We all
are one in mission; we all are one in call, our
varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.

Epistle Lesson:………..1 Corinthians 3:1-9…………….Freda B.
And so, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but rather as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food. Even now you are still not ready, for you are still of the flesh. For as long as there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving according to human inclinations?

For when one says, “I belong to Paul,” and another, “I belong to Apollos,” are you not merely human? What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labor of each. For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Sermon:……….“Unity in Diversity”…………………Lusi R.

Closing Hymn: “They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our Love #2223 TFWS
Words and Music: Peter Scholtes © 1966 F.E.L. Publications, assigned 1991
To The Lorenz Corp.

1. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord, we are one
in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord, and we pray that all unity
may one day be restored:

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

2. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
we will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
and together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land:

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

3. We will work with each other, we will work side by side,
we will work with each each other, we will work side by side,
and we’ll guard human dignity and save human pride:

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

4. All praise to the Father, from whom all things come, and
all praise to Christ Jesus, God’s only Son, and all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one:

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
