A Prayer of John Chrysostom
Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications until thee; and dost promise that when two or three are gathered together in thy Name thou wilt grant their requests; Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of they servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen
-John Chrysostom (347-407)
Opening Hymns:….Are Ye Able?………………#530 UMH
Words: Earl Marlet 1926; Music: Harry S. Mason 1924
© Beacon Hill
1. “Are ye able,” said the Master,
“to be crucified with me?”
“Yea,” the sturdy dreamers answered,
“to the death we follow thee.”
Lord, we are able. Our spirits are thine.
Remold them, make us, like thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be
a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
2. Are ye able to remember,
when a thief lifts up his eyes,
that his pardoned soul is worthy
of a place in paradise?
Lord, we are able. Our spirits are thine.
Remold them, make us, like thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be
a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
3. Are ye able when the shadows
close around you with the sod,
to believe that spirit triumphs,
to commend your soul to God?
Lord, we are able. Our spirits are thine.
Remold them, make us, like thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be
a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
4. Are ye able? Still the Master
whispers down eternity,
and heroic spirits answer,
now as then in Galilee.
Lord, we are able. Our spirits are thine.
Remold them, make us, like thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be
a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
Freely, Freely………………………………#389 UMH

God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name
I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His love as He told me to
He said, “Freely, freely you have received
Freely, freely give
Go in my name, and because you believe
Others will know that I live”
All power is givin’ in Jesus’ name
In earth and Heaven in Jesus’ name
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His power as He told me to
He said, “Freely, freely you have received
Freely, freely give
Go in my name, and because you believe
Others will know that I live”

Hymn of Preparation:
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)……………#3104 W&S
Words: John Newton (sts.), refrain by Chris Tomilin, and Louie Giglio; Music: Traditional American Melody ©2006 Vamos Publishing
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love
Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love
Amazing grace
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love
Amazing grace
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, who called me here below
Will be forever mine, will be forever mine
You are forever mine
Lesson:….…….……….Luke 19: 1 – 10….…..….…….…Robin C.
He entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw began to grumble and said, “He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.” Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.” (NRSV)

Closing Hymn:…..Rescue the Perishing…………#591 UMH
Words: Fanny J. Crosby, 1869 1926; Music: William H Doane, 1870
1 Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.
Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
2 Though they are slighting Him,
Still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.
Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
3 Down in the human heart,
Crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
4 Rescue the perishing,
Duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.
Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
