Psalter:  Psalm 30……………………………..Elizabeth B.

I will extol you, O LORD, for you have drawn me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me.
O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.
O LORD, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.
Sing praises to the LORD, O you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment; his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”
By your favor, O LORD, you had established me as a strong mountain; you hid your face; I was dismayed.
To you, O LORD, I cried, and to the LORD I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?
Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me! O LORD, be my helper!”
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
so that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

Hymn of Preparation:….”Here I Am Lord#593 UMH
© 1981, 1983, 1989  Daniel L. Schutte and NALR

1. I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save.
I have made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them. They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.”

3. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them. My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Gospel Lesson:…Luke 10:1-11, 16-20………..Elizabeth B.

10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go.  10:2 He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

10:3 Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves.  10:4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road.  10:5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’

10:6 And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you. 10:7 Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the laborer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house.

10:8 Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you;  10:9 cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

10:10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say,  10:11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.’
10:16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

10:17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!”  10:18 He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.

10:19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you.  10:20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

that shall turn their hearts to the right, a
story of truth and mercy, a story of
peace and light, a story of peace and light.

For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the
dawning to noon day bright; and Christ’s great
kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom
of love and light.

2.We’ve a song to be sung to the nations,
that shall lift their hearts to the Lord, a
song that shall conquer evil and shatter the
spear and sword, and shatter the spear and sword.

For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the
dawning to noon day bright; and Christ’s great
kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom
Of love and light.

that the Lord who reigneth above hath
sent us his Son to save us, and show us that
God is love, and show us that God is love.

For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the
dawning to noon day bright; and Christ’s great
kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom
of love and light.

4.We’ve a Savior to show to the nations,
who the path of sorrow hath trod, that
all of the world’s great peoples might come to the
truth of God, might come to the truth of God.

Refrain
For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the
dawning to noon day bright; and Christ’s great
kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom
of love and light.
