Coming of the Light:………………………………..Michael C.
Greetings……………………………………Pastor Steven
Opening Prayer: …………………………….…Melanie B.
Opening Hymns:“Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” #64 UMH
Words: Regional Heber, 1826 Music: John B. Dykes, 1861
1.Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
2.Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
3.Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.
4.Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.
“What a Friend We Have in Jesus” #526 UMH
Words: Joseph M. Scriven, ca. 1855
Music: Charles C. Converse, 1868
1.What a friend we have in Jesus, all our
sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to
carry everything to God in prayer! O what
peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain
we bear, all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
2.Have we trials and temptations? Is there
trouble anywhere? We should never be
discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all
our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every
weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
3.Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered
with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our
refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy
friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the
Lord in prayer! In his arms he’ll take and
shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.

Hymn of Preparation: “My Tribute” #99 UMH
Words and Music: Andraé Crouch, 1971
To God be the glory, to God be the glory,
to God be the glory for the things he has done.
With his blood he has saved me;
with his power he has raised me;
to God be the glory for the things he has done.
New Testament Lesson:…Mark 10:35-45……………..Melanie B.
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 And he said to them, “What is it you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said to him, “Appoint us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” 39 They replied, “We are able.” Then Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized you will be baptized, 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to appoint, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with James and John. 42 So Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that among the gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. 43 But it is not so among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.”
