Spaghetti Luncheon for Youth

YOUTH SUNDAY — OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR YOUTH!!

Let’s get together on Sunday, May 6th immediately after worship and help our Youth make plans for the rest of the year.
Give them an opportunity to grow in discipleship and have events to share with one another when they return.

On May 6th at 12:15 PM, there will be a Spaghetti Luncheon to help raise money for our Youth to go to various events
this year. Jordan Koonts is going to Kenya with his Grandfather to build a Habitat for Humanity house. His trip will
cost his family $2000+. We want to raise funds to help him make this trip. Others may be thinking of going to Summer
Breakaway at Louisburg College; Appalachian Trail Hike; Annual Conference Session for Youth [ACS]; the CYC Retreat or
finally The Pilgrimage. These are all wonderful opportunities for our Youth to learn more about their faith and learn to
be more committed as followers of Jesus Christ.

Sooooooooooooo, here is YOUR chance to come forward and help the children follow Jesus.

Holy Week Observances

Holy Week observances begin with the Easter Cantata, “SHARE THE NEWS! HE IS RISEN!” by Allen Pote, presented at worship on Palm Sunday, April 1, at the 11:00 o’clock worship service in the sanctuary.  This ministry of music includes Choir, Solos, Narration, Liturgical Dance and some drama.

On Wednesday April 4 at 6:45 we offer a devotional time in the sanctuary with the video, 24 Hours by Adam Hamilton, filmed on site in Jerusalem.

Our Holy Thursday Service, April 5 at 7 PM, presents the Drama, “Is It I?” and concludes with the Service of Communion.

Meditations on the 14 Stations of the cross are offered April 6 at 7 PM, including Scripture and prayer and bringing to mind the events that occurred during the trial and crucifixion of Jesus.

Our Community Easter Sunrise Service, April 8 at 6:30 AM, takes place this year at Westover UMC for the neighborhood churches.

At our Easter Service April 8 at 11:00 AM,  we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with special music, hand bells, flowers and lilies, and fellowship. Christ is risen…Christ is Risen Indeed!

Come savor these special times with the family of Christ at Avent Ferry UMC.
